My first ever oil experience took place over 13 years ago, by a woman who for the prior 15 years gave oil sessions frequently. The initial outcome of my session was an intense wave of energy that ran through my body, starting at the top of my head moving down to my feet. The wave of energy was so intense, it was almost as if my body was a magnet, and the energy draw of another magnet pulsed down across my magnetic body. You may not have been able to see the waves, but the feeling existed as the feeling of two magnets close to each other does, and the flow was very apparent throughout my body. I have no other way to explain the energy wave, other than to say it felt like a wand of healthy frequencies pulsing down my body. This was one of the more profound effects I have ever felt from the oils, and therefore it turned me into an instant "oily" from that moment forward.
In the Summer of 2007 I went to see the woman for depression. Mainly I got the session with her, due to my dear boss at the time, who asked me to fill in for her appointment as she wasn't able to make it. My manager had seen for several days that dreary look on my face that replaced my normal smiling self. She could see I lost motivation to learn new things and even to be present at work. She herself was visiting the aromatherapist for the last few months and had a strong appreciation for it as she felt her own health improving. My boss suggested I go give it a try, as at this point I needed some help and what harm could the oils do?
The practitioner had a small suite with a massage table setup, and a briefcase full of oils. She explained that as she felt the vibrations of the oils against my body, she would know which oils to use on me. I later learned that this method is a type of Muscle Testing Technique or also known as Applied Kinesiology. Once the oils gave her a signal to use them, she knew based on the oil selected, where the oil should be placed. I believe much of her technique considered the Chinese meridian system. For example she used the oil blend Joy on the outside of my ear, which is a location of the happiness meridian in the Chinese meridian system. This system is frequently used by acupuncturists. The woman mentioned she may use many oils and the whole session took nearly an hour. I don't recall how many oils she did end up using, however more than halfway through she laughed a bit as she put more progesterone cream on my lower back. She said she had already used this cream a couple times on my body however it still said "yes" that I needed more. As she rubbed the cream around the back of my waistline, I explained to her that I had only recently discontinued using birth contraceptive pills, which I had been using for the last four years of my life. It seemed no coincidence that my body was craving a balance from a change that I abruptly made to it.
When she was finished with the session, I sat up, and felt that intense healing energy pass through my body I spoke of above. I believe I made a pat on the table with my right hand, and I know my face was beaming as I said "I feel so much better!". She took a little step back with a surprised look on her face and mumbled "you look a lot better". It seemed she was just as shaken up at the change in me as I was. As I thanked her and said goodbye she mentioned I looked like a completely different person.
The events in the prior 6 months that lead up to my illness and going through those rough times, although not pleasant, opened a door to me that otherwise I may not have ever stumbled upon. The door lead to a new hobby of these little mysterious bottles, with so much fragrance, so much intelligence, and so many healing properties. Just as important, it opened up a path for me of self healing, reflection, and alternative healing methods, provided by mother nature herself!
